Are my documents private?
Yes. Documents and images submitted to Winston AI are stored in encrypted, access-controlled cloud storage and are used to provide the analysis features you request. Submitted text is not shared with or compared against other users' submissions.
As with any cloud service, no internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Winston AI uses technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect uploaded content and personal information.
Why does Winston AI store submitted content?
Submitted content and its analysis results are stored so that your reports remain available in your Winston AI dashboard. This lets you return to previous scans, review results, and manage your documents.
Your content may be processed to provide requested features such as AI detection, plagiarism checking, fact checking, writing feedback, grammar analysis, image analysis, and essay grading.
How is my content protected?
- Encryption: User-submitted content is encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Access controls: Access is restricted to authorized Winston AI personnel on a strict need-to-know basis. General employee access to user content is not permitted.
- Security reviews: Winston AI conducts periodic reviews and assessments of its infrastructure and data-handling practices.
- Service providers: Providers that handle data are selected for their security practices and are contractually required to maintain appropriate safeguards.

Does Winston AI use my documents to train AI models?
Winston AI does not use individually identifiable submitted content to train AI models without your explicit consent. Aggregated and de-identified usage analytics may be used to improve platform performance and analysis accuracy.
Does Winston AI share my documents?
Submitted text is not shared with other Winston AI users or compared against their submissions. Information may be handled by contracted service providers when necessary to operate and secure the service. It may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or in other circumstances described in the privacy policy.
Winston AI does not use Google Workspace API data for advertising, sell that data, or use it to train generalized AI or machine-learning models.
What happens when I delete a report or my account?
- If you delete a report, its submitted content is deleted from active storage within 30 days.
- If you delete your account, submitted content and associated reports are deleted from active storage within 30 days of account deletion.
- Deleted content may remain in encrypted backup systems for up to 90 additional days before it is permanently purged.
Content may be retained longer when required by law, such as in response to a valid preservation order.
