Which languages does Winston AI support?

Winston AI currently supports AI text detection in:

  • English
  • German
  • French
  • Dutch
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese
  • Italian
  • Polish
  • Indonesian
  • Tagalog
  • Chinese
  • Romanian
  • Russian
  • Ukrainian
  • Bulgarian
  • Azerbaijani

This list applies specifically to AI text detection. Language availability for other features, such as plagiarism checking, writing feedback, and fact checking, may differ.

Do I need to select the language before scanning?

Winston AI detects the language of the submitted text automatically. For the clearest result, scan a document written primarily in one supported language rather than combining several languages in the same scan.

Is AI detection equally reliable in every language?

Detection performance can vary by language because writing patterns, available training data, and AI model behavior differ across languages. Text length and document type also matter.

For the best result:

  • Scan the complete document or at least 300 words whenever possible.
  • Use continuous natural prose such as an essay, article, report, or full email.
  • Avoid drawing conclusions from a single sentence or short paragraph.
  • Review uncertain results alongside the original document and other relevant context.

Can I scan translated text?

Yes, if the translated text is in one of the supported languages. However, translation changes word choice, syntax, and sentence structure. These changes can remove or introduce patterns that affect the detection result.

If authorship matters, scan the original-language document whenever it is available. Treat the score from a translated version as additional context rather than assuming it will match the original.

What about documents containing more than one language?

A mixed-language document may produce a less conclusive overall result, especially when each language appears only in a short passage. When practical, separate the document by language and scan each substantial section individually.

Do not split the text into fragments that are too short to evaluate. A longer sample in one language is generally more informative than several isolated sentences.

What if my language is not listed?

Winston AI continues to expand its language support. If a language is not listed above, the text may still enter the scanner, but the result should not be treated as a validated detection result for that language.
